When you visit cleveland botanical garden, you'll find inspiration and enrichment through fabulous gardens, an exotic glasshouse and enchanting events. Beyond the memorable experiences it offers at its home in university circle, the garden makes our community greener and healthier by growing young lives and restoring land throughout the city.
Garden guests enjoy delightful surprises, quiet moments and lots of fun as they explore 10
acres of beautiful outdoor gardens and the 18,000-square-foot eleanor armstrong smith glasshouse. Your glasshouse adventure takes you into the costa rican rainforest full of lush plants, butterflies and birds, as well as to the spiny desert of madagascar, where prickly plants, out-of-the-ordinary blooms and wonderfully weird plants and animals welcome you.
Open all year, the garden offers guests extra opportunities to celebrate the seasons with special events such as orchid mania in february, the annual egg hunt in spring, gourmets in the garden through summer, ripe! Fest in fall and the popular wintershow tradition now known as glow.
The garden commits itself to serving the greater cleveland community through various outreach programs such as green corps, an urban-farming program for inner-city teens to develop work and life skills while transforming vacant city lots into productive gardens and green space. The garden also leads an applied research program aimed at restoring cities by turning abandoned properties into green infrastructure.
Founded in 1930 as the garden center of cleveland, cleveland botanical garden today is a not-for-profit organization that welcomes close to 150,000 guests each year and provides plant-science lessons to 12,500 schoolchildren annually. More than 7,100 households in northeast ohio have garden memberships.
