Open: Year Round

"In 1981, Tom Mudd Ph.D. (1942 - 2007) founded Cinnabar Vineyards & Winery on the eastern rim of the Santa Cruz Mountains overlooking the village of Saratoga and Silicon Valley. He had a penchant for medieval science and believed winemaking was a form of modern alchemy. Tom planted 22 acres of estate vineyards in 1984-85, managed the construction of the winery building, cellars and caves in 1987, and added eight more acres in 1991. Cinnabar began outsourcing fruit in 1996, and that practice is the foundation of today's winemaking program which includes selections from notable regions such as the Santa Cruz Mountains, Sonoma County, Lake County and Paso Robles. Cinnabar sold its Saratoga estate with Tom's passing in 2007, but his commitment to producing wines with an uncompromising standard of excellence remains in the hands of President Suzanne Frontz and Winemaker George Troquato."
