Jennifer "Ginger" Ryan worked with local community members in the development of a grassroots movement to bring quality affordable healthcare to the residents of the Sulphur Springs Valley, a rural agricultural area located in Southeast Cochise County.

This group of dedicated individuals received their first grant in 1996 which enabled them to form a 501c3 non-profit, with a volunteer board of directors. This in turn allowed the organization to initiate health services in the Elfrida Community Center. The local community center was "creatively redesigned" to create a clinic like atmosphere with reception, administration, patient rooms, laboratory and support services under one roof.

In 2001, our second health center opened in Douglas, Arizona. In 2003,Chiricahua Community Health Centers, Inc. added an additional clinic in Bisbee, Arizona as well as a Mobile Medical Clinic that traveled throughout Cochise County enabling patients who faced geographic as well as financial barriers to receive quality affordable healthcare.

In December 2005, Chiricahua Community Health Centers, Inc. expanded its services again by opening its newest and largest clinic in their system, the Jennifer "Ginger" Ryan clinic. This facility enabled the organization to provide extended hours as well as extended services such as pediatric care.

In the summer of 2006, Chiricahua Community Health Centers, Inc. added a Mobile Dental Unit in order to provide preventive dental services to the children of the Sulphur Springs Valley.

In 2008 Congresswoman Gabriel Giffords awarded CCHCI an earmark grant to address the following: Expansion on Douglas Medical Care, Expand Dental Operatories & Handicap ramp for the Bisbee Clinic.

In 2009 during the November 3rd General Election,  CCHCI is awarded the 15th Street School for the new Pediatric Center of Excellence by receiving nearly 90% of the votes. On November 6th, CCHCI is honored as the Business of the Year by the Douglas Chamber of Commerce.   On November 7th, CCHCI had the official "Launch" of its partnership with the Children's Health Fund and the new Mobile Medical Clinic with 1,000 people in attendance.

In 2010, CCHCI leased space in Sierra Vista to house the new Mobile Medical Clinic and Administrative Staff.   In February CCHCI completes purchase of the 15th Street School for the Pediatric Center of Excellence.  In April, CCHCI is featured on American Idol "Gives Back", Larry King Live and CNN.   Dr. Ryan is appointed, by a unanimous vote of the Arizona State Senate, to a third term on the Arizona Health Facilities Authority Board.  CCHCI wins the statewide "Arizona Big Shot" award from the Arizona Partnership for Immunization for Outstanding Achievement.st for our patients who are not currently insured with a sponsored health insurance plan.
