Mission:

The Center for the Visual and Performing Arts, Inc. (Center for the Arts) is dedicated to the establishment of a center in Harford County, accessible to all, to nurture art, artists and the community by providing a broad range of creative and collaborative experiences through quality arts education, presentation and exhibit in the disciplines of music, dance, theater, and the visual, traditional and literary arts.

Vision:

Arts Education and Appreciation Opportunities with a wide range of offerings of broad appeal to all segments of the community – people at all levels of accomplishment including cultural enthusiasts, hobbyists, dedicated amateurs, the emotionally and physically challenged, at-risk youth, students pursuing careers in the arts, and aspiring professionals. The Center will provide professional training, arts appreciation events, and continuing arts and humanities education in group classes and individual instruction for students ranging in age from early childhood to senior citizens.

Presentation Opportunities for music, dance, theater, and literary events in either a small intimate space or a larger concert hall/stage space to provide many opportunities for students, after-school programs, seniors, and people of all ages from the community to perform and attend presentations of local, regional and national talent. Resident companies and local arts organizations will perform – in Harford County – in a state-of-the-art facility.

Exhibit Opportunities from local, regional, national and international artists displayed in state-of-the-art (secure, temperature and humidity controlled) gallery spaces with community educational programs such as express lunch talks, curator sessions, and family projects related to the specific exhibits. Exhibits related to the history, architecture and archaeology of Harford County may also be presented since there is currently no exhibit or museum space in the County for display of artifacts.

Support for Emerging Local Arts and Humanities Organizations by providing rehearsal, performance, meeting, office, and training spaces for community-based cultural groups and marketing of the educational programs, performances and exhibits.
