From the moment she bought this winery in 2015, Claire Livingston had the vision of creating a warm, friendly place in which to enjoy delicious wines while relaxing with family and friends. Claire's passion for wine, coupled with her commitment to creating a welcoming atmosphere, has transformed Cavender Creek into a must-visit destination for wine enthusiasts and for those seeking a place to get away from it all.
There are a total of fifteen acres altogether, four of which are planted in vines. We grow the American wine grape, Norton, as well as the French varietals, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Manseng, and Petit Verdot.
In our on-site winery, we produce red, white, and rosé wines that range in taste from dry, to off-dry, to sweet.
In addition to mature grape vines and farm-related buildings, the grounds are home to our Tasting Room, which is open year-round, and our Event Barn, which is available for weddings and other celebrations. We have three short-stay vacation rentals.
You’ll notice right away that there are images of donkeys on everything, from wine labels to merchandise—and yes, we have live donkeys! Our donkeys are as much a part of our identity as the old log cabin—our guests remember us as “the winery with the donkeys.”
