Bryn Mawr Vineyards is located  near Salem, Oregon,  in the central Willamette Valley.   Our 15 acre Eola Hills vineyard is located high above the valley floor ,  providing spectacular views of both the Coastal and Cascade  Mountain ranges.   The soils of Bryn Mawr are volcanic in origin and, like others in the Eola-Amity Hills, tend  to be shallower than other areas in the Willamette Valley.  The afternoon breezes that come from the Van Duzer Pass cool our grapes and preserve their natural acidity, creating bright, fresh wines that also reflect the structure and depth of our terroir.

Our grapes are planted in blocks reflecting  differences in slope, elevation and exposure, as well as the Lauer family members for whom each block has been named.

" Jeffrey's Block "  -  our oldest block named for our oldest son.  Jeffrey's block was planted between 1994 and 1997.  It has a southeast slope and contains mostly Pinot  Noir, with a smattering of Chardonnay and Tempranillo grapes.   We are one of the few vineyards in the Willamette Valley that  has attempted Tempranillo, fortunately with much success.

" Krista's Block "   -  a block of red grapes  at our highest elevation named for our red-headed daughter.  Krista's block  was initially planted in 2002  with a blend of Pinot Noir, including Dijon clones 113, 115, 666 and 777.  We extended Krista's block in the summer of 2010 by adding  the Pinot Noir clone Pommard and planting additional 777.  Krista ' s Block historically has produced some of our finest grapes, from which we make our Reserve Pinot Noir.

" David's Block "   -  a block of white grapes named for our  blond, blue-eyed youngest son.  David's block was planted in the summer of 2010, with Chardonnay and Pinot Blanc grapes.  We expect to bottle our first production from David's Block in 2012.
