History:

Brown's Brewing Company opened in 1993 as Hop Pictures-7the Brown & Moran Brewing Company at 417 River Street in downtown Troy, NY and was the first brewery restaurant in the Capital Region. In 1995, founder and company president Garrett Brown changed the name of the entity to the Troy Brewing Company, Inc., doing business as Troy Pub & Brewery until 2004, when he changed the trade name to Brown's Brewing Company. Brown's also built and operated Revolution Hall in the neighboring 421/423 and 425 River Street addresses. Brown's began managing the Revolution Hall space as a private event venue in 2010 when the owner of the live music business ceased operations.
