The mission of the Branford Land Trust is to preserve open space in Branford, and to promote our community’s appreciation of Branford’s diverse natural features.

The Branford Land Trust is a non-profit organization, founded in 1967 with the goal of protecting Branford’s natural resources. For more than 45 years, the Trust has honored its mission by acquiring and managing open space, promoting education about our natural resources, and encouraging our community to get involved.

The Land Trust now owns more than 950 acres in over 130 parcels and holds conservation easements on another 400 acres in Branford, Connecticut, on the shore of Long Island Sound just east of New Haven. Working together with the Town, the State and other partners, the Trust has helped protect large natural areas in the Supply Ponds watershed (nearly a thousand acres), in the Jarvis and Hoadley Creek watershed (more than 650 acres) and along the Farm River (nearly ninety acres) and one of Branford’s last working farms to protect Branford’s natural resources and for its citizens to enjoy.

The Land Trust is run by volunteers and supported by over 900 members. If you are interested in joining our efforts, please contact us. In the meantime, we invite you to browse our site – there’s plenty to protect, learn and explore!
