The mission of the Blowing Rock Art and History Museum is to promote visual arts and history and to celebrate the rich heritage of the mountains.

The Blowing Rock Art and History Museum is a non-profit organization located in the town of Blowing Rock, North Carolina, nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Its mission is to promote visual arts and history and to celebrate the rich heritage of the mountains. Organized in 1999 in response to a generous offer of Elliott Daingerfield artwork, the museum was incorporated in January 2001, and received its 501(c)3 non-profit status from the IRS in May 2002.

The Blowing Rock Art and History Museum is governed by a Board of Trustees that currently has 20 members as follows: John Albright, Welborn E. Alexander, Jr., Teresa Caine, John W. Calvin, Herbert Cohen, Lynn E. Drury, Joseph D. Dulaney, José Agustin Fumero, Susan Glenn, David E. Harwood, Don W. Hubble, Lamont Hudson, Carole Miller, Joni Webb Petschauer, Dennis Quinn, LaRose F. Spooner, Virginia A. Stevens, Norma Suddreth, Larry Watson, and Joann C. Mitchell.

The organization is currently working toward the dream of a facility to house its growing collection. Having secured a long-term lease on property in downtown Blowing Rock, groundbreaking will commence in 2008 with the opening of the new facility by 2010. Until and upon completion of this facility, the museum will offer artistic and cultural events, programs, educational activities, and travel opportunities to museum members and to the North Carolina High Country community. The Blowing Rock Art and History Museum also will continue to work with local cultural and historic organizations - such as the Blowing Rock Historical Society, the Blowing Rock Community Art Center, and the town of Blowing Rock - to enhance Blowing Rock as a culturally attractive town.
