We have been recording concerts in Bloomington throughout the spring and look forward to sharing the festival with you this May. In programming this year's festival, we are continuing our mission to expand the canon of western classical music.Throughout the festival we will feature music by women and BIPOC composers, Renaissance music from Guatemala, and masterpieces curated for female patrons. Each festival program will be accompanied by a pre-concert conversation.
We are fortunate to be a part of the vibrant Bloomington arts community and are thrilled to welcome local ensembles Las Aves, Forgotten Clefs and the Bloomington Bach Cantata Project back to the festival this year. The second half of the festival will feature two programs of music from the Guatemalan Manuscripts held by the IU Lilly Library, brought to us by the research of BLEMF board member Paul Borg. With the support of our festival partner the IU Latin American Music Center, we close the festival with a newly recorded program from Tembembe Ensamble Continuo, a world-renowned ensemble based in Mexico City.
