Purpose:

The purpose of this non-profit organization is to conduct an annual film festival in the Black Hills that features South Dakota-produced films and films shot on location in South Dakota, among other national and international entries.

Mission:

The mission of the Black Hills Film Festival is to build awareness of independent films and film as an art form; provide educational opportunities for students and South Dakota filmmakers; and create opportunities for South Dakota communities to experience high-quality films.

About:

The Black Hills Film Festival is a 501 (c)3 non-profit organization operating in Hill City, South Dakota.  Located just minutes from Mount Rushmore and Crazy Horse Memorials, Hill City is a small mountain town known for it’s arts focus and easy access to area attractions, trails, restaurants, shopping and scenic byways.

The South Dakota Film Office, a component of the South Dakota Department of Tourism and State Development, is an annual sponsor of the event and is in full support of the festival and it’s activities.
