Beth Ahabah Museum And Archives

Welcome to the Beth Ahabah Museum & Archives (BAM&A), the museum of Jewish history, art and culture of Richmond, Virginia. Located in the historic Fan District, the Museum & Archives is housed in a 20thcentury row house adjacent to the sanctuary of Congregation Beth Ahabah, built in 1904, and the successor to Kahol Kadosh (K.K.) Beth Shalome, one of the first six Jewish congregations in the nation.

Established in the 1970s by a small group of prescient individuals, Beth Ahabah Museum & Archives houses an invaluable collection of documents, portraits, photographs, paintings and objects that provide a window to the lives, loves, contributions, defeats and triumphs of Jewish Richmonders since the days of the American Revolution.

Mission: 

The Beth Ahabah Museum & Archives collects, preserves and exhibits materials that relate to Jewish history and culture – with particular emphasis on Richmond, Virginia – so that Jewish history and culture may be documented, interpreted and passed on to future generations.
