About Us:
The Barry County Museum exhibits a wide range of items on a rotating basis related to the historical and cultural identity of the Ozarks and Barry County. The Barry County Museum also houses the Fields’ Photo Archives, containing over one million original negatives of the families and places of Barry County. Located on the museum grounds are the one-room Black School House, the Edens Cabin, and catch-and-release pond. The Barry County Museum also publishes the Lifetimes of Memories oral history series, which as of August 2012 includes 17 volumes of history through the remembrances of men and women who have made their homes in Barry County, Missouri.
The Barry County Museum was created to preserve our rich heritage for future generations. Since opening our doors in 2007, public interest and support has been even greater than we anticipated. Operating as a 501(c)(3) not for profit organization, we receive no financial support from local or federal government. If we are to continue to grow and protect our collections, we must rely on our patrons and neighbors. We do so by asking that you volunteer your time, and support our operations financially through memorials, donations, and memberships.
