Bassett Planetarium

165 South Pleasant St
Amherst, MA 01002

413-542-2138

For more than fifty years the Bassett Planetarium has served school groups in the valley with programs on the night sky. The instrument is a Spitz A3p optical projector with seats for 60 under a 9.1 meter dome.

The Bassett Planetarium presentations are primarily concerned with learning to identify the evening constellations and to explore some mythologies that gave rise to the constellation names. Mechanics and structure of the solar system and the universe can be explored as well.
