Mission And Story:
From the Palace of Versailles to your own home or office, landscaping is an important part of a building's visual impression as well as its' function. We believe it ought to be beautiful, thoughtful, and well done. Always.
Horticulture has fascinated Rick Cowles, Red Oak Landscape's founder, for as long as he can remember, and he has always preferred to spend his time outdoors in nature. As a very young entrepreneur, Rick earned his first spending money mowing the church lawn for $2 per week, and splitting firewood for his father. As a young teenager, he gradually expanded into doing odd jobs in the yards of friends and neighbors, before starting his own landscaping business at the age of 15.
While pursuing a formal education in Landscape Operations at the University of Massachusetts' Stockbridge School of Agriculture, Rick worked to keep his business running throughout the summers and on spring and fall weekends. After college, Rick partnered with his father, Ted, to expand Red Oak Landscape into a full service operation. For over 25 years, Red Oak Landscape has specialized in creating and maintaining beautiful landscapes in the Farmington Valley & surrounding areas.
