The L'Anse Area School / Public Library is a combination school and public library. It serves the students in grades seven through twelve of L'Anse Junior/Senior High School and the public for all of Baraga County, the southern half of Houghton County, and a very small portion of Ontonagon County. The library is located on the first floor of L'Anse High School.

The library is automated with an Online Public Access Catalog (the old card catalog is gone) and materials are circulated using barcodes. To obtain a library card is as simple as coming to the library and filling out a registration card. Identification, such as a driver's license, is required. The library contains over 16,000 books, 65 magazine titles, 4 newspapers as well as a collection of talking books, video cassettes, and large print books. A separate room houses the children's collection. The local paper, The L'Anse Sentinel is available on microfilm from 1890 through 1998.
