Our Mission:

The mission of the Bainbridge Island Historical Society is to collect, interpret, safeguard and display significant items from Bainbridge Island's colorful past; foster a knowledge of local history through educational programs; support historic preservation on Bainbridge Island; and operate the 1908 schoolhouse museum and Historic Research Library.

Our mission is achieved through: the active collecting of artifacts, photographs, information and oral histories; building and maintaining an inventory of historic properties on the Island; and preserving our collections by implementing professional museum practices. Residents and visitors are educated through permanent and rotating exhibits, our award winning publications and our monthly Bainbridge History Series of public programs.
