About Us:
Armstrong Apples is a small farm located between Fond du Lac and Plymouth. We started with 2 types of apple varieties 25 years ago the honeycrisp and jonagold. Who knew they would be so popular. Each year we planted more until we reached 11 varieties. To provide the best type of apples we take out those that are less popular or have limited flavor or retention characteristics and plant new varieties each year that are considered superior in flavor, retention and market demand.
We're foodies. We love to eat, cook, smell, taste and even read about food. Mostly we love good food. We're also very health conscious about the food we eat so we buy and make it from the best ingredients available and that's also why we grow it.
We have lived all over the United States and from North Carolina we learned about great fried chicken and biscuits (and so much more about southern cooking), in New Orleans where we lived for 8 years we learned how to party and enjoyed dining out at the best restaurants anywhere, Texas was really all about barbecues, Connecticut had great seafood like lobster rolls with the butter dripping down your face and the fudge and salt water taffy are to die for. The area we live in (Wisconsin) is inhabited by other foodies. They all love great food; all of it. It just has to be good and it is. So when a neighbor gives us a recipe, we know it will be great.
Our Farm:
We are a family business that has truly established itself, developing real roots in our community. The orchard was plant with the help of friends, family, and neighbors ranging in age from 8 to 80. We support our community with our time our money and our products.
Our Market:
Armstrong Apples opened its business in 2001 by selling at farmer's markets and at it's current farm site. Today you can find our products only at our farm store. We use eco- techniques to control apple pests and disease which are healthier and safer for our environment. Check out the eco section in "health tips" to find out what makes this better.
