Community Support for public libraries is essential for both the library and the community. Shelbyville and Bedford County are fortunate to have a tradition of library service thanks to the Argie Cooper Public Library. With the creation of the Argie Cooper Public Library Foundation, we now embark on a new era of service and the completion of a new home for the Library. The theme of the campaign is Moving Our Library Into The Future. This theme is a reflection of the important role the Library plays in our community and the fact that we are both moving to a new location and to an new era of service. We are excited about what the results of this campaign will mean for everyone in Shelbyville and Bedford County. The new facility includes more than twice the space of the current library. Expanded areas for children's programs, collections, local history and genealogy, and a community room allow for numerous groups to utilize this space.

The mission of the Argie Cooper Public Library Foundation is to provide financial resources to enhance the Library. Our funding supplements, rather than replaces, public funding sources from the city and county. The Foundation embarks on a capital campaign to assist in funding a new public library facility.
