Our History:

The Arata Pumpkin Farm is the oldest working pumpkin farm in San Mateo County, California. Pumpkins have been a way of life at the Arata Farm since 1932.

In the early 1930's, teenager John Arata and his brother Clarence planted pumpkin seeds to feed the family's hogs.

One day, while hauling pumpkins along Highway One, a passing motorist asked to buy a few. They sold the pumpkins for a quarter each and a business and tourist attraction was born.

About 3,000 tons of pumpkins are grown each year by 15 or so commercial growers in the Half Moon Bay area who ship them throughout the US.
