About Us
Todd, the leader of the clan and serial entrepreneur, is combining his many talents and skills to run the orchard. Todd's botany degree, horticulture background, business savvy, and his unfailing love for the outdoors makes him especially suited to include the orchard in his list of successful business ventures. If we can do things bigger, better, faster, or smarter he'll find the way. He especially values the relationships we have established with schools where we help their food service professionals feed thousands of students healthy, nutritious, locally grown fruits and vegetables every week.
Caren, Todd's wife is a dedicated homeschool mom to three wonderful, beautiful (and smart, of course) children. She grew up in The Big Apple, moved to the "Little Apple" of Appleton, and now has the exciting and sometimes frightening opportunity to live amongst the trees, gardens and wildlife of Black Creek! She has a medical and business background and enjoys running the store and providing great service and friendship to our customers. If you ever have a question about anything homeschooling, ask her. She will be happy to help! After all, our children are our future.
Christina is headed off to Lawrence University. She jumped right in with her heart and soul, making the orchard a welcoming place and a blessing to others. She, like her daddy, loves to tend to the gardens where she refers to her plants as her babies. Also an entrepreneur with a thriving music education practice, Christina is excited about bringing you delicious and healthy choices. If you listen carefully, you may hear her playing one of her many instruments, as she is a very accomplished musician playing the piano, violin, guitar, and ukulele.
Matthew is growing as fast as our apple trees! He loves experimenting in the kitchen coming up with creations for the whole family to enjoy. Matthew is learning the meaning of hard work and building muscle mass this year. In addition to orchard work, he would love to mow all of your lawns, shovel horse manure, brush your animals, weed all of your gardens, deliver your deer apples, and do any household chores you would like! :P Seriously, he plans to study computer science and maybe culinary arts.
Hope is our cheerful greeter and always is excited to see our customers. She is always enthusiastic to help wherever needed and loves to make sure you get a taste of everything in the store. In addition, she is in charge of raspberry and blackberry production... and picking! She is in her element here at the orchard... one of her favorite things to do is climb trees. She loves to play with the frogs and tadpoles in the pond, and read books while perched in a tree.
Uncle Kerry lives with us at the orchard and faithfully tends to all the trees and gardens. He is a thoughtful, conscientious and hard working gentleman who keeps everything humming. Kerry is an accomplished musician having mastered the harmonica like few others. Oh, and he loves onions and puts them on and in everything! Despite this, he has a calm, kind, and gentle spirit that is an inspiration to us all because sometimes it gets a little crazy here!
