About Us

The mission of Allen Memorial Hospital is to improve the health of the people and communities we serve through healing, caring and teaching.

Allen Hospital was founded in 1925 by Henry B. Allen. He gave our community 80 acres of land and $200,000 in memory of his wife Mary. He wanted Allen Hospital to be open to anyone in need of care, regardless of circumstance. We have honored his bequest and his vision ever since with one clear, simple promise. We will be here when you need us.

Allen Hospital is the busiest hospital in the Cedar Valley. We care for more inpatients, outpatients, emergency patients and cardiac patients than any other hospital in our 10-county service area. We are proud of what we do and proud to care for you.

Allen Hospital, Allen Home Health Services, and Allen Home Medical Equipment Services are accredited and certified by the Joint Commission. If you have any concerns about the quality of care you receive at Allen or any complaints we cannot resolve promptly, here is how to contact both Allen Hospital senior leadership and the Joint Commission.
