The Alameda Park Zoo are the oldest zoo in the southwest United States,and the smallest zoo to be Association of Zoo & Aquarium (AZA) Accredited, a
prestigious distinction which indicates that the zoo has achieved rigorous standards for animal care, education, wildlife conservation and science. The Alameda Park Zoo has more than 12 acres and over 250 exotic and indigenous animals. An education center, gift shop, restroom facilities, picnic area, and playground are all available inside the zoo grounds. Oldest Zoo in the Southwest estabilshed 1898.
