Are you ready to make a lasting impact on your community? AARP San Antonio invites you to learn about our volunteer opportunities. You can connect with dedicated volunteers, learn about AARP’s efforts, and discover how you can join in making a difference. Whether you’re already involved or just beginning to explore the idea of volunteering, this event is the perfect place to start.

What: Learn About AARP San Antonio Volunteers
When: Thursday, March 27, 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.

What to Expect
Our meeting will be led by AARP San Antonio Associate State Director for Outreach & Advocacy, Ismael Herrera. He will guide the session, sharing insights about AARP’s initiatives in San Antonio.

You’ll also hear from current AARP volunteers who will talk about their personal experiences. These volunteers will offer a behind-the-scenes look at what it’s like to be a part of AARP’s community outreach efforts, sharing stories about their roles and how they’ve contributed to creating positive change. Their testimonies will give you an understanding of the meaningful work happening within AARP and how your involvement can make an difference.

Why Should You Attend?
This event is an opportunity to learn about our exciting volunteer opportunities. Whether you’re interested in advocacy, community building, or supporting local programs, AARP offers a wide range of ways you can get involved.

Opportunities available to AARP volunteers include:

  • Community Ambassadors connect members of your community with valuable AARP information and resources. They also represent AARP at community events and activities.
  • Speakers’ Bureau volunteers educate and inform the public by presenting workshops on a variety of topics such as caregiving, fraud prevention, and Social Security.
  • Advocacy volunteers work with staff at the state and local levels on important legislative issues that promote health, enhance financial security, support family caregivers, and more.
  • Communications volunteers inform people about the many free resources and local events AARP offers via their community networks, on social media, community websites, newsletters, and articles.
  • Livable Communities ambassadors connect individuals and communities locally with AARP’s Livable Communities/Age-Friendly resources, facilitate workshops, and provide issue area expertise.
