Week in Review: October 19th

Posted on 10/28/20

As we continue counting down to election day, we are sharing last-minute voting information resources, videos all about the issues, debate updates, and more.

This week, we shared a video of Bruce Gove from Windham recalling how having Medicare saved him tens of thousands of dollars following a medical procedure. AARP Maine is urging voters to ask your candidates about how they will protect this critical program.

Have you voted yet? Planning to vote early? How do you know your polling place will be safe? What’s the best way to ensure your ballot is counted? We hosted Maine Secretary of State Matt Dunlap in a Facebook Live this week to answer all of your last-minute voting questions. The recording is now available to watch here! You can also check out this handy flyer from the Maine Department of the Secretary of State for reminders on key dates, best practices, and more.

AARP Maine volunteers & staff are making their voices heard at dropboxes all across the state ahead of Election 2020! Make your safe voting plan today so that you can be heard on the issues that matter to you. As always, visit aarp.org/mainevotes for more information.

Lastly, this week AARP Maine was tuned in to three debates: US Senate on News Center Maine, House CD2 on Maine Public, and Presidential on all networks. Check out our Twitter page, where we tweeted live from the events on what we were hearing (or not hearing!) from candidates on the issues that matter to Mainers 50-plus such as protecting Social Security & Medicare and lowering prescription drug prices.

Our latest scam information is posted here, this time on COVID-19 real estate rental scams.
