Despite the demands of the role, most caregivers say their experience has been a gratifying one, according to a Pew Research Center survey. Long-term caregiving, however, can have significant financial consequences, especially for women. Emotional and physical stresses are also common.

AARP in Philadelphia wants to help family caregivers by connecting them with the resources they need.

In honor of National Family Caregivers Month, CBSPhilly.com will host a web chat on Tuesday, Nov. 20, at 12:30 p.m., featuring Joanne Grossi, AARP Pennsylvania state president. She will answer questions online about caregiving and offer support and resources.

Grossi, 59, of Philadelphia, is a public health expert as well as a caregiver for her father.

Questions for Grossi may be submitted in advance in the comments section at CBSPhilly.com/AARP or on Twitter using #AARPinPhilly.

“Family caregivers are unsung heroes who provide support to loved ones. We want to ensure that they have the resources they need,” said Jacklyn Isasi, communications director for AARP Pennsylvania.

The web chat will be streamed live on CBSPhilly.com/AARP and archived for later viewing.
