We Need Your Help! Volunteer for Tax-Aide in Michigan

Posted on 11/30/19 by The AARP Bulletin

AARP Michigan is seeking to expand its volunteer Tax-Aide team.

More than 1,000 Michigan volunteers participate in the AARP Foundation Tax-Aide program, but additional helpers are needed statewide for the 2020 tax season.

Training for this IRS-sanctioned program will take place in January. Volunteers will work with tax filers from Feb. 1 to April 15, making sure that returns are filled out correctly and that residents receive all credits and deductions they are entitled to.

The program is aimed at low-income individuals who can’t afford professional tax preparation, but all are welcome.

This year, Tax-Aide volunteers helped more than 65,000 Michigan residents receive over $28 million in refunds.

To learn about Tax-Aide and to apply, go to aarpfoundation.org/taxaide or call 888-687-2277.
