At stake will be the seat for Houston Mayor. Also on the ballot, 16 spots on City Council, which includes 11 single member districts, five at-large positions, and the controller's seat.
2023 General Election Candidates
Adults ages 50 and older make up the largest proportion of the voting population. Older voters will likely be coming out in substantial numbers to vote in the 2023 Houston Mayoral election, with 84% of surveyed registered voters 50+ saying they are ‘very likely’ to vote.
AARP Texas Survey: Voters 50+ to Decide Houston’s Next Mayor
Given the powerful influence of these older voters, AARP Texas commissioned a survey of 805 registered voters age 50 and older in Houston to better understand their needs and wants.

Constitutional Amendments on the 2023 Ballot
If you plan to vote by mail, now is the time to send in your application. The video below walks you through the Texas Mail Ballot application process. The last day to apply to vote by mail is October 27, 2023.
