AARP Mississippi is recruiting volunteers for a wide array of activities and advocacy, including caregiving, fraud prevention and livable communities.

AARP volunteers can do what interests them most, from writing their legislators about getting high-speed internet to forming a local book club to planning a day at the ballpark.

Volunteers have served as “elder helpers,” assisting with shopping and cooking; instructors in Driver Safety classes; and IRS- trained preparers for the Tax-Aide program.

Need motivation? Volunteering reduces social isolation and decreases depression among older people, studies show.

New volunteers will receive training at a time and method convenient for them. For more information, email the state office at msaarp@aarp.org or call 866-554-5382.
