Volunteers Needed for Tax-Aide

Tax Aid

For over 50 years, AARP volunteers have provided free assistance to 68 million low- and moderate-income people in preparing their taxes. With tax season approaching, AARP South Carolina is recruiting volunteers for AARP Foundation Tax-Aide to work with residents on their returns.

Volunteers will receive IRS certification training; a background in accounting or finance is not required. Volunteers are also needed to greet clients, organize files and help with computers and other tasks, from Feb. 1 to April 15.

During the previous tax season, 375 Tax-Aide volunteers in South Carolina prepared and filed 14,422 federal returns. Volunteers are especially needed in rural communities.
