Rich Sodon, AARP New Jersey’s 2021 Community Engagement Award recipient, joined the AARP NJ Speakers Bureau in early 2020, just as the pandemic lockdowns went into effect. Despite being new to the Bureau, Rich quickly got up to speed on AARP’s goals, objectives, and procedures and jumped right in.

The AARP NJ Community Engagement Award is given to an AARP volunteer who has positively impacted the local communities we serve in a significant way. As a Speakers Bureau volunteer, Rich presents to groups across the state on issues that matter most to New Jerseyans 50 and older.

In 2021, Rich took on the role of Speakers Bureau coordinator – helping bring new hosts and returning hosts to the Speakers Bureau – and helping fellow volunteers adapt to virtual presentations. Hear from Rich!
