Virtual Tours of Phipps Conservatory & Botanical Gardens

AARP Pennsylvania and Phipps conservatory are collaborating on a series of seven virtual events throughout the year including virtual tours of the conservatory’s popular seasonal displays as well as garden-inspired educational classes. All events are free to attend and you do not have to be an AARP member.

Eat Your Yard

Just because a plant is edible doesn’t mean it can’t be good-looking. Learn how to make an edible garden an attractive landscape feature instead of a weedy eyesore. Designing with Seasonal Garden Flowers

Spring Flower Show with Phipps Conservatory

April 30, 2025 from 5-6pm

Take a virtual guided tour through Phipps Conservatory’s Spring Flower Show: A Bloom for Every Room! This year's eye-catching displays highlight all the quintessential spring blooms you love to see this season, and in a unique twist, each room is dedicated to a different stunning bloom — one for tulips, one for pansies, lilies and so on — allowing you to appreciate the beauty and unique details of each flower. You’ll also get a chance to look at Phipps’ new Tropical Forest Panama exhibit, and a Phipps horticulture expert will be available to answer your questions after the tour!

Fall Flower Show with Phipps Conservatory

October 22, 2025 from 5-6pm

Take a virtual guided tour through Phipps Conservatory’s Fall Flower Show! This year's show celebrates the prominence of the chrysanthemum in Japanese culture through vibrant autumnal displays. Mums in a wide variety of shapes, sizes and colors will be presented alongside evocative props including jewel-toned fans, a moon gate, a pagoda, foot bridges and a celebratory ryuu, or dragon, whose brightly colored body floats from end to end of the glasshouse’s iconic Serpentine Room. A Phipps horticulture expert will be available to answer your questions after the tour!

Holiday Magic Winter Flower Show with Phipps Conservatory

December 10, 2025 from 5-6pm

The whimsy and enchantment return to Pittsburgh’s premiere holiday experience with your virtual guided tour of Phipps Holiday Magic. Inside the historic Phipps glasshouse, it’s a “wild winter” as each room features a topiary tribute to the wondrous wildlife associated with the season, from overwintering songbirds and majestic reindeer to polar bears, penguins, owls and more! Outside, the magic continues as Phipps’ Winter Light Garden features one showstopping luminous display after another. A Phipps horticulture expert will be available to answer your questions after the tour!
