Thriving in the Workplace with AARP Foundation’s BACK TO WORK 50+ Program

Posted on 01/20/21

Do you know what it means to “Disrupt Aging”? At AARP, it means changing the story of aging by making it possible for everyone to choose how they live and work as they age. One important key to accomplishing this mission is AARP Foundation’s BACK TO WORK 50+ program. AARP Foundation advocates for older workers, connecting them with employers and providing training and resources to keep older workers competitive in the job market. This is important because older workers are more likely to experience long-term unemployment, and they face unique hurdles while seeking gainful employment. To support these workers, the BACK TO WORK 50+ program offers resources, coaching, and workshops to provide the tools and skills needed to find work and secure financial stability. In the past, these workshops were limited to select locations, but with the changes implemented to accommodate for COVID-19, workshops have been moved online, making them accessible during this difficult time.

To learn more about how AARP Foundation and the BACK TO WORK 50+ program supports older workers, tune in to Thursdays with AARP Wisconsin on Thursday, January 21st at 12:00pm CT. Guest Susan Caicedo-Corea, AARP Foundation Program Analyst, will be discussing the pressing issue of unemployment, and underemployment, among 50+ workers, along with detailed information about the resources and training that the BACK TO WORK 50+ program currently offers.

Have questions about how the program works? You can join the conversation on Thursday by sharing your comments and/or questions live via Facebook and YouTube, or you can send your questions before, during, or after the presentation to ammiller@aarp.org. If you’re 50+ and seeking employment resources, you can also call 855-850-2525 or use this link to request information and/or register for one of the BACK TO WORK 50+ Smart Strategies Workshops.
