The AARP Driver Safety Update

AARP Smart DriverTEK Workshop Features New Safety Technologies

New vehicles are coming equipped with a wide array of safety technologies, depending on the make and model. AARP Smart DriverTEK, a free, online, self-paced 90-minute workshop, is designed to help you understand how nine popular technologies work.

You’ll learn about forward collision, lane departure, and blind spot warnings, along with smart headlights, assistive parking systems, and adaptive cruise control, in a highly visual presentation. The workshop wraps up with a discussion of the limitations of the new technologies, the basic vehicle maintenance requirements, and emerging technologies.

Plus, you’ll be able to download and print the Smart DriverTEK checklist, which describes the nine safety features covered in the course and lists helpful sites for more information. Use it to check out the features on your new car or take it with you when shopping for a new car.

Currently, the AARP Smart DriverTEK workshop is only available online in Virginia. You can find it at: www.aarp.org/smartdrivertek6
