Prescription pills with money

The Senate is preparing to vote on whether to finally allow Medicare to negotiate for lower drug-prices, which would deliver real prescription drug price relief for millions of older Americans.

The budget reconciliation bill before the Senate now includes three key AARP priorities that will go a long way to lower drug prices and out-of-pocket costs. This includes:

  • Finally allowing Medicare to negotiate the price of drugs.
  • Capping out-of-pocket prescription drug costs in Medicare Part D at $2,000 each year.
  • Holding drug companies accountable when they increase drug prices faster than the rate of inflation.
