Mayor John Whitmire rolled out the Comprehensive Water Bill Improvement Plan in April, aiming to tackle the issues head-on, ensuring residents transparency and accuracy in water billing through new tools. Here's what you need to know:

  1. Usage Calculation: The new set of usage calculations simplifies how your water usage is determined.
  2. Remote Meter Upgrades: The plan includes upgrading remote meter reading devices. This means more accurate data collection, leading to fairer bills.
  3. Online Dashboard: Transparency is key. An online dashboard will give you real-time insights into water usage and billing details.
  4. Age-Friendly Approach: The plan aligns with Houston's Age-Friendly/Livable Community framework. It recognizes that older adults need reliable billing practices, especially those on fixed incomes.
