Step Up: Join AARP Walking Groups This Summer

Posted on 06/30/24 by The AARP Bulletin

Walking is widely seen as an effective way to improve your health. If you can do it with others and meet new friends, even better.

As part of its healthy living initiative, AARP Virginia hosts volunteer-led walking groups at local parks. In addition, AARP sponsors a Walk With a Doc program in the Dominion Valley neighborhood in Haymarket (5235 Merchants View Square) on the second Sunday of every month.

The latter sessions, which start at 8 a.m., are led by a doctor who begins with a brief presentation on a current health topic, followed by a walk during which participants can ask the physician general health questions.
