Stay Safe: Shred Your Sensitive Documents

Posted on 03/31/23 by The AARP Bulletin

AARP New York will sponsor free shredding events across the state to help keep your sensitive documents away from identity thieves and other criminals.

Bring up to three bags or boxes of old bank statements, tax documents and other financial papers and have them shredded on-site. There is no size limit on the containers. It’s a great way to stop scammers from getting access to your personal information. It’s also an important part of AARP’s national effort to combat fraud.

The shredding events are open to the public, but registration is required. They will be held from mid-April into May at locations across the state, from Buffalo to Long Island, the Capital Region to New York City and points in between.

To find dates and specific locations and to register, visit aarp.org/nystopscams.
