State Director Statement on Social Security Decision
AARP Nevada State Director Maria Moore said
the decision by the Social Security Administration to force in-person visits will cause substantial problems in Nevada.
"The Social Security Administration’s abrupt decision to require in-person identity verification will create unnecessary hurdles for older Americans," Moore said.
"In Nevada some residents must travel as far as 300 miles or four hours to reach the nearest SSA office," she said. "This policy will force even more people to make these trips, adding new barriers for those who rely on Social Security, especially older adults with mobility challenges or limited transportation options.”
