Special Election: Bucks County – 140th Pennsylvania State House District
After winning a district court judge seat in Bucks County, former state representative John Galloway resigned his house seat effective December 14, 2023.
House Speaker Joanna McClinton scheduled a Special Election for Tuesday, February 13, 2024 to fill the remainder of Galloway’s term.
AARP Pennsylvania is dedicated to ensuring that Bucks County residents of the 140th Legislative House District know how to register to vote, where to vote in person, what the rules are for mail-in, absentee or early voting, and key dates for voting.

What are the key dates regarding the February 2024 Special Election?
- Last day to register to vote: Monday, January 29, 2024
- Last day to apply for a mail-in or absentee ballot: Tuesday, February 6, 2024
- Last day for the County Board of Elections to receive voted mail-in or absentee ballots: February 13, 2024 – must be received by 8:00 P.M. to be counted
- Special Election Day for the 140th District House Seat: Tuesday, February 13, 2024 – polls are open 7:00 A.M. to 8:00 P.M.
