The event will take place at the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society’s pop-up garden at 1438 South St.
Explore unique garden rooms of flowering plants, rustic structures and Moroccan lights while learning what AARP is doing to serve the city.
Drinks and hors d’oeuvres will be provided.
“This is a great way for our members to see that AARP is engaging with the community,” said Yocasta Lora, AARP Pennsylvania associate state director. “They can have a glass of wine and conversation with other members who just might be their neighbors.”
Volunteers will share their experiences, and AARP staff will discuss the organization’s efforts in three main areas: livable communities, family caregiving and the Fraud Watch Network.
Among the benefits to being an AARP volunteer are conducting workshops, advocating for issues you’re passionate about and being a leader who can assess needs in your community.
The event is free, but registration is required. RSVP: aarp.cvent.com/AARPPASipSampleServe or call 877-926-8300 toll-free. —Christine Facciolo
