AARP Rhode Island, on behalf of older Rhode Islanders, demands a sensible, centralized statewide COVID Vaccination Plan that includes a centralized vaccination appointment registration system accessible via a single web site and coordinated by a phone registration system answered by live, trained staff.

Currently, multiple phone numbers and web sites have led to a confusing and frustrating vaccine roll out. Calls can go to:

  • towns and cities
  • pharmacies
  • an ineffective existing state COVID hotline that provides health information, but not vaccination guidance

This is confusing as well as a prescription for redundancies that could invite duplicate individual vaccination registrations that could result in wasted vaccines.

Sign a petition to end the vaccination chaos NOW

It is no secret that the state’s vaccination rollout has been ranked as one of the worst in the nation. Meanwhile, older Rhode Islanders continue to suffer and too many have died. A plan that gets this right is past due. Our earlier petition led to the state revising the vaccination plan to prioritize Rhode Islanders 50 and older. We know this works!

AARP Rhode Island has set sensible guidelines and called for transparent reporting that provides data to track how Rhode Island’s COVID effort performs.
