Shred Your Tax and Financial Documents and Help the Hungry
Protect yourself from identity theft by safely shredding sensitive documents at the Access Information Management Destruction Plants on Oahu, Maui and Hawai‘i island on April 27. You can also help the hungry at the same time by bringing food donations.
The Fraud Watch Network Shred-a-Thon comes just after tax season when many people discard their obsolete financial documents and is put on annually by AARP Hawai‘i and Access Information Protected.
People can drive up and drop off up to 2 boxes of documents per person from 8 a.m. to noon on April 27 at the Aiea Destruction Center at 98-736 Moanalua Loop: Big Island Record and Destruction Center at 73-4164 Huli Koa Drive in Kailua-Kona; and the Maui Record and Destruction Center at 821 Eha Street in Wailuku.
Bring a monetary donation or rice and canned goods to benefit Hawaii’s hungry families through the Hawai‘i Food Bank, Maui Food Bank or Hawai‘i Food Basket..
To keep traffic flowing in Aiea, Honolulu police officers will on site. Drivers will only be allowed to make a right turn into the destruction plant and a right turn out of the destruction plant.
Staples and paperclips do not need to be removed. Due to safety and traffic-flow concerns, people will not be allowed to get out of their car and boxes and bags will not be returned. Drop offs will be limited to 2 bags or boxes per person in each vehicle. Walk-ups will not be allowed.
Access Corporation requires a signed document release form before they will shred your documents. Forms can be downloaded here: Agreement for Secure Destruction Service and signed before you drop off your papers.
