The Senior Planet program provides digital literacy training to older adults and empowers people to embrace opportunities to reshape their lives. The monthly online training will be offered from August through December. Registration is required for each training session.

Time: 10:30- 11:30 a.m. CST


Zoom Links & Dates:

  • August 14: Protecting Your Personal Information Online. The presentation will cover the ins and outs of protecting your personal information online. We will also cover tips for staying safe in cyberspace, like safe browsing, recognizing online scams, and when it’s okay to share your personal information online.
  • September 11: Intro to Managing Your Privacy. This introductory lecture will review how ads target us online, how to limit tracking and where to find browser settings and extensions. It will also help you control how your information is shared and discuss password managers' key features and why they are a safe and secure option.
  • October 9: Streaming and Smart TVs. This presentation will introduce streaming, what it is, how to use it and the variety of content available. It will also help you learn how to watch live TV without cable and how smart TVs and streaming devices can let you watch videos from the Internet on your television.
  • November 13: Smartphone Camera Uses Beyond Photography. During this presentation, we will explore a variety of fun and useful features made possible by apps, such as scanning QR codes, translating text, measuring objects and even using augmented reality. We will also cover considerations for choosing apps and reviewing their privacy and data practices.
  • December 11: Intro to Estate Planning Resources & Tools. This lecture gives you an overview of common documents in an estate plan and covers some free or low-cost resources. It will also include digital tools to help you start a simple estate plan.
