Resource Guide Aids Caregivers

Caregiver

AARP Minnesota has put out a statewide guide describing local services and support for caregivers.

In May, in response to numerous reports of elder abuse, the Minnesota Legislature passed a law to protect older and vulnerable adults in assisted living facilities and nursing homes.

The guide includes information on the law, which sets up a licensing system for assisted living facilities, provides the right to place a camera to monitor care and offers protections against retaliation.

In conjunction with the resource guide and the legislation, which took effect in August, AARP Minnesota will be educating people on what to do if they suspect elder abuse.
