Play (Pickle)ball - and Raise Money for Music

AARP West Virginia is mixing sports and symphony: hosting a pickleball tournament to benefit the state’s premier performing arts group.

The Paddles & Preludes Pickleball Tournament, to be held in Charleston on Saturday, April 29, is a fundraiser hosted in conjunction with the West Virginia Symphony Orchestra.

Pickleball—a combination of tennis, badminton and table tennis—is increasingly popular among Americans, according to the Sport & Fitness Industry Association. The group reported that a third of “core” players—those who play eight or more times a year—are 65 and older.

The tournament, at the Charleston Tennis Club, aligns with AARP priorities, including promoting healthy lifestyles and enjoyment of the arts.
