Pittsburgh Volunteers Honor Local Veterans, Military and Family
AARP Pittsburgh volunteers have been on a mission to support local veterans, military and family this year. Volunteers have shared resources and engaged in community service projects to empower Veterans, Military, and their Families to navigate the complexities of life's transitions.
The volunteers have written and delivered cards to ensure veterans receive support at holidays, engaged in community service activities like bingo with partners at the Southwest PA Veterans Center, shared resources on caregiving and navigating benefits at several Stand Down and “Salute to Service” events in our region, and joined Veterans Leadership Program to honor the largest gathering of veterans in Western PA on Veterans Day.
AARP has a long history of supporting Veterans, Military, and their families, including over four million who are AARP members today. Veterans and their families have unique challenges given their service to our country, so AARP is proud to offer community programs and services on caregiving, re-careering, fighting fraud, and navigating service benefits, deals, and discounts.
AARP’s free resources are easy to access at aarp.org/veterans.
