Owensboro Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame & Museum and Webster County Senior Services Receive AARP Community Challenge Grants
LOUISVILLE, KY – Owensboro’s Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame & Museum and Webster County Senior Services were selected to receive AARP Community Challenge Grants. Both projects are being funded as part of the fifth annual AARP Community Challenge. AARP Kentucky State President Charlotte Whittaker is presenting the organizations their checks at the Green River Area District. Both proposals were chosen from some 3,500 nonprofits and government entities nationwide and 70 proposals in Kentucky.

- Dixon: Webster County Senior Center Grant funds will be used to create an outdoor seating area with benches, tables and games ($4,913).
- Owensboro: Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame & Museum A state of the art, user-friendly audio guide will be purchased for the museum to increase accessibility and enhance the educational experience ($15,000).

Since 2017, AARP Kentucky has awarded 18 grants and $207,500 through the program to nonprofit organizations and government entities across the state. The Community Challenge grant program is part of AARP’s Livable Communities initiative which supports the efforts of cities, towns, neighborhoods and rural areas to become great places to live for people of all ages.
The next AARP Community Challenge application window is expected to open in February 2022.
