Good oral health is important. Not only is it vital to our complete general health, but it also helps keep our heart healthy. Really.

However, access to annual dental check-ups is not something that is accessible to all. Many older adults are unable to afford the care they need to maintain healthy teeth and gums. This disparity is especially true for people in communities of color.

In this latest edition of the AARP Prepare to Care Podcast, our host Eddie Orum talks to Dr. Maryam Tabrizi about oral health and disparities among African Americans. Dr. Tabrizi is Assistant Professor- Geriatric Dentistry at The University of Texas School of Dentistry at Houston.
