NextFifty Initiative is challenging Colorado entities to collaborate on creative ideas for building a new future for aging, through a $1 million Collective Impact Challenge Grant opportunity.

NextFifty Initiative*, a private foundation dedicated to improving the lives of older adults and their caregivers, seeks applications from teams of three or more public, private or nonprofit entities in Colorado with ambitious proposals in housing, wellness, transportation, the arts, social programs and more.

NextFifty Initiative hopes to partner with visionary Colorado organizations who want to multiply their impact on the lives of people over 50, through coalitions building on past success and future innovation,” said NextFifty Initiative President and CEO Diana McFail. “We’re better together, faster together, smarter together, and Coloradans over 50 deserve our best efforts to help everyone thrive and grow.”

Colorado entities teaming up for their Collective Impact Challenge Grant proposals could consider collaborations in areas that may include:

  • Capacity building and infrastructure development
  • Community education
  • Community and building design for an aging population
  • Communications strategies and projects that break stereotypes and promote a better understanding of aging
  • New models in services, housing, and transportation that enhance the quality of life and functional capacity for those age 50 and older
  • Projects that explore or promote socialization, improve mobility and enhance engagement in community
  • Projects that seek to convene a diverse group of stakeholders to identify and address issues of aging
  • Projects that train for encore careers and volunteerism
  • Projects that enhance the workforce to serve the aging and promote the use of older workers
  • Projects that promote inter-generational engagement, collaboration, and cross-learning
  • Projects that support caregivers

Grant proposals will be by invitation only. The NextFifty Initiative philanthropy staff encourages prospective applicants to make contact beginning in mid-March. Those invited to apply for the $1 million, two-year grant will be asked to submit formal proposals for their teams from June 1 to June 30.

The Collective Impact Challenge Grant opportunity is in addition to NextFifty Initiative’s current funding areas in 2020 U.S. Census grants, aimed at achieving a full count of hard-to-reach older Coloradans, the Community Response Fund, and General Fund grant opportunities.
